valentines 2011

Every year I make home-made valentines for my family. Usually their valentines have something to do with their lives that year. Some years are easier than others.
This year I did something new... a joint theme that linked all four valentines. I was wracking my brain for ideas, when a simple thought struck.
Love letters. Literally. So I made these....

It helped that I have one husband and three kids. Lol I make the envelopes to match, too.

Time Flies...

Life's been busy.
So I haven't written much... not that I don't have a lot to say.
I don't look like that picture anymore, either.

There's a new and improved model in her place. :o)

God's just cool like that!

I was perusing the Regent Blogger page, looking at new faces when someone caught my eye...
I knew that face!  The name was the same, too... hmmmm.
I clicked on her profile... right age, right location.... so I searched her on Facebook where her profile came up with a picture of her and her hubby... it was definitely her!

Amy Gutierrez and I went to junior high and high school together in Tampa, Florida. We hung out with some of the same people here and there but never got to know each other very well.  Her husband and I were in the band together. She's still in Tampa and I'm way up here in Virginia...
We haven't seen each other since we graduated in 1982, and 27 years later we both go to Regent!

God's just cool like that!

Found Time

Today I spent the afternoon at a funeral with a friend.
I only met the deceased one time a couple years back.
I still cried.
About the moment I started to feel dumb about that, I heard a close friend's voice in my head telling me that he loves how much I love people...
I didn't waste the time feeling dumb.

Funerals are good things to go to every now and then.
Have you ever noticed it's the one event in our lives where we put down everything, no matter what?
All the daily stuff that we deem so important is so easily put aside when someone dies. Whether it's someone close or just an acquaintance.
Time stops - we linger to fellowship.
I can't think of any other event that can do that.

At my house we call that "found time".
It's time we weren't planning on having.
Time well spent investing in relationships and remembering that our time is limited.
